Q. When will you be open?
A. Please click on the adventure you want to book and review the online calendar to see which days and times we are ready for you to come play in the trees!
Q. What is an Adventure Course?
A. A Tree Top Adventure Course is an adventurous obstacle course set in the natural environment where the course is located, in this case, Flagstaff, Arizona. The obstacles are suspended between trees and participants stay securely clipped into a red safety cable throughout the course. The obstacles you will find in our park include suspended bridges, scramble nets, swinging logs, a skateboard, and much more! If you complete all five adult courses and 70 obstacles, you will also have been on 8 ziplines plus the short one on the Demonstration Course. So give the course a try and test your limits!
Q. What are Adventure Zip Lines?
A. Our Adventure Zip Lines are awesome! This is an ACTIVE zip line experience unique to our Park. The Zip Lines are similiar in length to the ones on our Adventure Course but there are more than 30 of them! Be prepared to walk about 5 minutes to the start and between courses, but you will end up right back where you learned how to use the gear earlier in the day. The zip lines do get very high in the trees and there are a number of ladders and bridges to negotiate so you will need some physical endurance to complete all of the Zips. In addition there are a few zip lines that also lower you to the ground, so be prepared for that. and to get to them you need to go through the obstacles!
Q. Should I make a reservation, or can I just walk up?
A. Booking in advance is STRONGLY recommended to avoid any delays upon your arrival. It is common for us to sell out on summer weekends so booking in advance assures your group is able to Play in the Trees when you want.
Q. What methods of payment do you accept?
A. We accept Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover and, of course, Cash.
Q. I have a Rain Check card, Free Admission Card, or a Discount code. How do I enter the code online?
A. Initially we will be using two different systems to book the different experiences, soon we will combine to one and be able to use discount codes online but in the mean time please call us at 888.259.0125 to book. Or email firstname.lastname@example.org with your info and we will call you back or email you. We are easy to deal with!
Q. Rain Checks, how long are they valid?
A. 60 days from the date of issue or the end of the calendar year they are issued in, whichever is sooner.
Q. What is the refund policy?
A. Bookings made via this website, or by phone, may be cancelled via phone up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment and the customer will receive 100 of the total fee for that appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged 100 % of the fee for that appointment. Outside of 48 hours we are also happy to just reschedule the date and time or process a refund.
Q. Who has to fill out our waiver and where can I get a waiver?
A. Every participant must complete their own individual waiver. Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must have their waiver forms reviewed and signed by their parent or legal guardian. Waivers are available at our office, or available to download and/or are attached to the confirmation email once you book.
Q. Who signs as the witness on the waiver?
A. Anyone 18 or older who did not sign that waiver can sign as the witness. For the minor waiver, be sure that the parent/guardian who signed for the minor has someone else that is 18 years old or older sign as the witness. For example, if mom signs as the parent guardian, then dad can sign as the witness.
Q. Why do I sign a photography release on the waiver?
A. Two reasons: 1) Everyone has a camera these days. We cannot control, nor be responsible, for any issues arising from a picture taken by someone else that happens to be at the course. We are in a public park and also cannot control the public from taking pictures as we could on private land. 2) At times, we take professional pictures for marketing purposes and the best shots are usually real customers that are not staged or posed for the photos. With that being said, we want latitude to use pictures we take for marketing purposes.
Q. Is there more than one circuit on the Aventure Course?
A. Yes – indeed there are! There are FIVE Adult courses for those who meet the height/age requirements (Green, Silver, Blue, Red and Black) and ONE children’s course (Yellow).
Q. Is there more than one circuit on the Adventure Zip Line course?
A. Yes – indeed there are! There are THREE courses for those who meet the height/age requirements. This totals over 30 zip lines and some ladders and bridges.
Q. How long, in terms of time, would it take the average adult to complete the Adventure Course and/or Adventure Zip Lines?
A. Although you can end your thrilling adventure at any time, it will take you approximately 2.5 – 3.5 hours to complete the Adventure Course. The Adventure Zip Lines will be take approximately 2-2.5 hours.
Q. Is there a time limit on the Kid’s Adventure Course?
A. There is no time limit, but there is a “3 time around” limit. This generally takes kids 1.5 hrs to complete.
Q. Is there a minimum age/height requirement for the Kid’s Adventure Course?
A. Children must be a minimum of 7 years old. In order for children to be able to reach the safety lines and manage their way through the course they must be able to reach the middle of their palms to a height of 4’7″ (140 cm) while keeping their feet flat on the ground. An adult must supervise the child while the child is up on the course at all times.
Q. Is there a height/weight restriction for the Adult Course?
A. In order for guests to be able to reach the safety lines and manage their way through the Adult Course, they must be able to reach the middle of their palms to a height of 5’11″ (180 cm) while keeping their feet flat on the ground. We don’t have a general weight limit, it really depends on the shape of the person to know if the weight can be a problem. As an example a 6’5″ 285lb person fits fine in a harness… but a 5’2″, 285lb person probably will not. It’s all about the harness and a proper fit.
Q. My Child is 11 (or 10) and they are very tall and can reach the 5’11 required for the Adult Course. Can they go on that course with the proper accompaniment?
A. The simple answer is no. The Adult Course requires participants to not only reach the height requirement, but also be more intellectually and physically mature. Our experience tells us that although bigger 10-11 year olds are physically able to reach, they tend to become frightened as the course goes up in height.
Q. What are the basic safety rules?
A. We have a number of safety rules. #1) Always be clipped in. You must always be clipped into the safety lines and/or cables. #2) Carabiners should have their gates facing opposite directions. #3) Always have your carabiners at waist height or higher. Another rule sometimes referred to as #4) Do not touch the climbing gear of other people. These are the basics but we will give you more detail and demonstrate the rules when you arrive. Remember, always be clipped in.
Q. I have many different ages coming to your park, how do we all participate? Should I sign up for different time slots?
A. We have many multi-generation groups come to the park. You will want to sign everyone up for the same time slot. This way, you will all go through the same briefing and demo and then you will have the rest of the day to go on the courses. If you do not have an extra adult who is not participating to watch the juniors, you can all take turns going through the courses. For example, once everyone has completed the briefing and demo, everyone will head over to the Junior Course. All the adult participants will watch the juniors go through their course one time. Once finished, everyone will head over to the Adult Course. The adults will go through the Green Course with the juniors on the ground watching. Once the adults complete the Green Course, everyone heads back over to the Junior Course and the adults will watch the juniors go through their course a second time. Once finished, everyone heads back to the Adult Course and the juniors will watch the adults go through our Silver Course.. etc. Keep in mind, everyone must go through the courses in order and only one time each.
12-15 year olds will go on our Adventure Course or Adventure Zip Lines and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This adult must participate on the course. If the adult cannot go any further, the 12-15 year old does need to come down from the trees as well. If the 12-15 year old does not want to continue any further, they may come down and the adults can continue on the course. For Grandparents that choose not to go up with their 12-15 year old grand-kids, we can provide a Guide for an additional fee (we do need notice for this option).
Q. If I am just coming to watch others in the trees do I need to pay anything? or be on the reservation as an observer?
A. Watching is FREE, We operate in a County Park and so you are free to watch and walk along the Courses. You can hike or ride a mountain bike or whatever you would like to do. The only thing you cannot do is get up on any part of the Course.
Q. Do I have to do the Adventure Course or Adventure Zip Lines in order?
A. Yes, the courses are designed for you to get used to the techniques before getting to a higher level of difficulty and elevation. The real accomplishment is to do the courses in order and finish as much as you can!
Q. How do I get started on a course?
A. When you have completed your waiver form and paid for your access, you’ll be scheduled into a brief group training session. At the training session, you’ll be fitted into your harness and your guide will show you how to attach yourself to safety lines and how to attach yourself to a zip line. Once your guide deems that you can safely use your equipment, you’ll be able to proceed onto the Adventure Course or Adventure Zip Lines whichever experience you booked.
Q. Can I get a refund if I don’t want to proceed on to a course?
A. If you don’t proceed onto a course after your training session, you are eligible for a refund. Once you have finished your training and you start on any of the courses, you’ll have forfeited any refund options.
Q. Do I actually have to participate on the course with my 12-15 year old?
A. Yes, children 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times on the course. Children 12-15 must remain within 2 platforms of the adult at all times. If the adult accompanying the 12-15 year olds cannot continue, the children must also come down, or a Guide may be hired (if available) to accompany the child(ren) as far as they can go. If you are unclear about the safety precautions for 12-15 year old children, please call us and discuss.
Q. I am worried that I won’t be able to complete all of the courses and my 12-15 year old will have to come down when I do. What options do I have to allow them to continue?
A. If you can’t make it through, we can generally provide one of our staff members, at a cost, to take over and finish with them (provided we have the availability for it). A Guide to accompany a group or an individual is $50 for the entire course. If a Guide is only needed for ½ of the course or less, the cost for the Guide is $25. Again, we can’t guarantee, without prior notice, that we will have enough staff to take this on, but we always try to help our customers out!
Q. Do I need to stay at the course while my child(ren) are climbing?
A. Yes, children on the Junior Course need DIRECT parent/guardian supervision from the ground at all times. Children 12-15 years old on the Adult Courses need an adult with them on the course and they must stay within 2 platforms of each other. 16 – 17 year olds may climb on the courses on their own, with the proper waiver signed by a parent/guardian. We ask that a parent be around on the ground watching.
Q. Do you limit the number of people that can come to FLG X on any given day?
A. Yes! We limit the number of participants to maintain good participant flow through the courses. In addition, staff levels and hours of daylight may also affect the number of people allowed to participate. FLG X is not a timed, competitive or speed of play attraction. At times we do have some delays due to volume but we don’t overbook the course. These infrequent back ups are usually caused by a rescue or a group of people congregating for lunch then all going back on the course at once. When you have to go up a ladder one at a time, that can slow things down. It is not in FLG X’s best interest to overfill the course and we do not do this, but at times there can be delays due to other reasons.
Q. What’s the best time/way for a large group to come to FLG X?
A. We recommend large groups (20 – 40) or extra large groups (60+) to always start the course first thing in the morning. This allows the group to get out on the course and spread out. In addition, during monsoon season, if we have weather issues, they usually happen in the afternoon. This is important because it’s very hard for a large group to reschedule and can be costly if a hired bus is involved. We can arrange catering, team-building, or other activities to make it a full day.
Q. Can pregnant women participate in the activities at FLG X?
A. This activity is not recommended for women who are pregnant. If they choose to participate it is recommended that they consult their doctor prior to their visit. If we are unable to fit the harness properly they will not be allowed to participate.
Q. Are there clothing requirements?
A. Yes, appropriate footwear and clothing is required for safety purposes: We recommend that you wear fingerless gloves; do not wear open-toed shoes; no flipflops; no slip-on shoes; no loose baggy clothing or shirts wrapped around the waist; long hair must be tied back; secure eyeglasses and, we strongly recommend no jewelry – especially necklaces or loose bracelets, which could get caught in equipment. Guests can be refused access to the course if they do not have appropriate clothing to meet our safety standards. For our female participants we recommend longer shorts, yoga pants or workout tights. For males we recommend pants, longer shorts, workout clothing or similar. As well, we recommend that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirt or sap on (they’re trees, it just happens).
Q. During Winter what are your tips and recommendations?
A. Some tips for Winter: 1) Wear layers of clothing, 2) wear a winter hat, 3) boots, 4) full fingered gloves that are snug fitting, like batting gloves, golf gloves, 5) fingerless gloves over the fingered gloves. Think of this like you are going snowboarding or skiing! Also, check the weather prior to arrival. Flagstaff is at over 7000 feet above sea level and can be cold, especially for our customers from the Phoenix Metro or Tucson areas!
Q. What if I don’t want to go on the course myself, but I want to watch my family/friends go on the courses, or if I want to watch and bring my pet?
A. We are located in Ft. Tuthill County Park and as such, most of the course is available for the Public to wander around in. We do have the Kid’s Course and Demonstration Courses fenced to help us keep the public off those courses when we are not operating. During hours of operation people are generally welcomed anywhere in the area. There are trails, and generally we’d like people to stay on those trails. You are not to cross under the course, or remain or loiter directly under the course to avoid being hit if something is dropped. Attended pets are welcome as we are in a public park but please clean up after your pet and make sure they are under your control.
Q. Is it possible for physically disabled persons to use the course?
A. With direct assistance it may be possible for some physically disabled people to complete some aspects of some of the courses. We would require advance notice and a brief interview to determine if it would work out. Give us a call. There may be additional costs involved.
Q. What is your inclement weather policy?
A. Flagstaff Extreme operates RAIN/SNOW or SHINE. Only severe weather conditions such as lightning in close (6 miles) proximity, high winds (over 40 mph), fire conditions, extreme cold and/or possibly heavy rain/snow will temporarily close the courses. In the event that we close the Park and guests have been waiting for over an hour, guests can receive a RAIN CHECK or REFUND provided they have completed only two or less of the Courses. Customers that have progressed through 2 Courses and are on the 3rd Course or further will be issued a RAIN CHECK. RAIN CHECKS are valid for 60 days from the issue date or the current season year whichever is sooner.
